Model K5 Bench-Top AOI Automatic Optical Inspection by iPULSE (a Yamaha Motor Company)
The iPULSE Model K5 AOI System is derived from technologies developed by SONY and proven in Sony’s many worldwide manufacturing facilities. Early in 2006, iPULSE, a Yamaha Motor Company, acquired the AOI product line and several engineers from Sony. Since that time, iPULSE has continued to improve upon the Sony designs, particularly in the areas of man-to-machine interface, program creation, off-line programming and automatic data acquisition. The Model K5 control system runs a sophisticated ‘Variable Division Multi-Image Comparison’ software algorithm that supports effective ‘Look-and-Learn’ program creation. Combining automatically acquired digital images with CAD or Gerber data, plus an extensive library of component dimensions, facilitates rapid and reliable AOI program creation. The mechanical performance of the Model K5 is based on a high-precision/high-speed linear motor system that accurately positions the circuit card as the high resolution vision system inspects component position, OCR identity, lead position, solder joints and other programmed features at very high speeds.
