Model K2 & K2L AOI Automatic Optical Inspection by iPULSE (a Yamaha Motor Company)
The iPULSE Model K2 is derived from technologies developed by SONY and proven in Sony’s many worldwide manufacturing facilities. Early in 2006, iPULSE, a Yamaha Motor Company, acquired the AOI product line and several engineers from Sony. Since that time, iPULSE has continued to improve upon the Sony designs, particularly in the areas of man-to-machine interface, program creation, off-line programming and automatic data acquisition. The Model K2 provides a SMEMA interface and conveyor system for direct installation within any SMT production line for the inspection of printed solder paste, SMD placement or post-reflow quality assurance.
Amistar is the servicing distributor for iPULSE in North America.

Centralized Network Control of Programming, ‘NG’ Validation & Repair |
|
All of the iPULSE models in the K-series of inspection machines provide network connections and software controls that allow one operator to monitor and validate the ‘NG’ callouts from ALL of the operating K-series inspections machines on a user’s network. Validated ‘NG’ callouts can result in the storage of image files that can be recalled by barcode identity or typed I.D. and used to direct repairs or process corrections. Similarly, one programmer can, from his desktop computer, merge CAD and Gerber data with component dimension libraries and image data to create and modify AOI programs to be downloaded to the operating K-series inspections machines on his network.

| The AOI capability of the iPULSE Model K2 to employ visible light and Infra-red light creates a high contrast inspection image that clearly distinguishes the printed solder paste. |
