Shop Floor Data Delivery Systems
The power of DataPlace systems is derived from advanced software and networking options that provide manufacturers with a database-driven approach to managing serialized labeling across their entire enterprise. Label data can be easily controlled by the user's networked software applications and managed using the DataPlace system's powerful user interface. Advanced DataPlace software and networking options include...
- Software for remotely programming all installed DataPlace systems from a single network location
- The ability to specify a centralized network location from which all labeling programs and layouts are served on demand, via LAN or WAN, to each installed DataPlace system
- Global serialization software that provides control and redundancy checking of serialization efforts across the manufacturer's entire enterprise - even when those efforts occur on opposite sides of the globe
- Custom factory integration software for seamless interaction with the user's software systems
While the introduction of DataPlace automated labeling systems has helped the world's largest manufacturers to embrace automated labeling as a mainstream process, industry standards for employing these systems don't yet exist. With each new integration effort that Amistar conducts, more insight is gained into which functions represent common industry needs. As those common needs are discovered they are incorporated into the core DataPlace system software or offered as value-added software options that can benefit all DataPlace system users.
Industry Networking Standards
Amistar's solution to labeling system connectivity and software parallels industry standards now being developed for networked assembly systems. Standards development efforts such as the National Electronics Manufacturing Initiative's (NEMI) Virtual Factory Information Interchange Project (VFIIP) and Plug & Play Factory Project will have a tremendous impact on highlighting specific reasons for implementing shop floor data delivery systems such as DataPlace systems. The primary benefit of these efforts, as they relate to assembly equipment suppliers, will be the definition of open-architecture communication standards that streamline factory integration efforts.
